The 2025 FRC season is in full swing! Help us improve throughout this season by donating!
For the 2024 FRC challenge, Crescendo, we wanted to up our game. Meet Swervington. Don't be fooled by the elegant and old fashioned name, this bot meant business. For the first time, we incorporated a swerve drive. What does that mean? One word. Speed. Our pivoting arm would pick up notes (foam rings) and deliver them swiftly and efficiently. It was specialized, speedy, and got the job done efficiently.
With a support based strategy, we were selected for the elimination/playoff rounds in both of our qualifying competitions. We were starting to lay down some points, and our confidence for the 2025 season was bolstered with this newfound success.
The swerve drive was a difficult challenge to overcome. Building it was hard, but programming it was harder. It was only a few days before our first event that the bot was able to drive. From the construction to the programming, team 9312, Nerd Spark, generously offered up their time and energy to help us. Without the numerous long hours with them in Albion, we couldn't have achieved this success. We thank them immensely.
In 2024, we introduced a number of new practices in our engineering process and expanded our arsenal of tools and resources. In addition to the swerve drive, our programmers transitioned from Python to Labview with assistance from Nerd Spark. We made a new pit setup and launched a new team-wide rebranding, which is now used all over this website.
