Our robot for the 2023 Charged Up challenge, humorously dubbed the "Problem Child" by the team, consisted of an arm that could pivot and extend (using a telescoping slide) in order to pick up cones. At the end of the arm lay a grabber powered by hydraulics that opened and closed, allowing us to sucessfully grab and hold on to gamepieces.
This robot left some to be desired, and served as a stepping stone towards more streamlined engineering processes. Equipped with the lessons we learned from the "Problem Child," we were ready to enter the 2024 season with confidence and experience.
We utilized a system of bumpers that allowed us to easily and efficiently swap between red and blue alliances dependant on each match. These bumpers are primarily made out of wood, pool noodles, velcro, and fabric, and are comprised of four separate corner bumpers.
Above are a few team members working on the robot fairly early on in the season. Many things went wrong, hence the name the "Problem Child", but through persistence and lots hard work, we were able to make it competition-ready in time.
